Juvederm in Chicago, IL
If you’re interested in facial fillers to enhance the look of your facial skin, you may have heard of Juvederm. Juvederm is a pharmaceutical company that produces a number of skin-enhancing treatments. Juverderm is also the “street name” for two of the company’s most popular products, Juvederm XC and Juvederm Ultra XC.
Where are Juvederm XC and Juvederm Ultra XC used?
Juvederm XC is generally used to treat moderate to severe wrinkles and folds of the face, like the naso-labial fold. Juvederm Ultra XC is more commonly used to enhance the lip area.
How are Juvederm XC and Juvedeerm Ultra XC administered?
Both Juvederm XC and Juvederm Ultra XC are administered the same way: they are an injectable gel, delivered into the treatment area via a very thin, small needle.
Are Juvederm treatments painful?
Both Juvederm XC and Juvederm Ultra XC contain a small amount of lidocaine, a common anesthetic, so that within seconds of injection, the injection site becomes numb.
Therefore, many patients do not need additional anesthetic prior to injection. However, a few of our patients prefer to be numbed prior to Juvederm injection. We will be happy to discuss your options with you.
Are there side effects or downtime after a Juvederm injection?
As with any injectable, the area in which Juvederm is injected can be red, tender, and a bit swollen for a few days after treatment. Some patients may experience slight bruising and / or itching at or near the injection site. However, after-effects are generally mild and short-lived with Juvederm products.
How long does a Juvederm treatment last?
Like all facial fillers, the length of time Juvederm treatments will last depends on where exactly it was administered and your body’s speed in processing it. The more an area moves – like your lips – the shorter any filler, including Juvederm, will last. Most patients find that a Juvederm treatment last between nine months and one year.
